Domain Newspaper Stories Part 3

Last week at the Cathedral Domain Reading Camp campers in the writing center interviewed teachers, support staff members, counselors, and each other for a newspaper published at the end of Reading Camp. This entry is the third of five entries of the "Reading Rocks at the Domain" Reading Camp newspaper.

J.W. interviewed Bentley Manning on June 25. And he said he likes the rooms and he likes the food at Reading Camp. He is having a blast. His cabin is in the great hall. His favorite thing to do is he likes to talk to the campers.

Austin’s favorite color is blue. He likes Dragon Ball. His favrite sport is baseball and he douesnt have a girlfriend and sort of likes lions. He has a best friend that’s name is Kyle and he likes ghost stories. He doesn’t like school and he likes ghost stories and clowns. He likes rap music and hip hop and he lives in Lexington KY.

June 25th is Kinzie’s birthday. She turned 10 while she was here at Reading Camp. Kinzie is really really good at sports like cup stacking. She also likes reading and drawing pictures of people. Kinzie, who is at Reading camp for her first time, lives in Lexington and goes to Elementary School. She says that her school is an awesome place that is very quiet and near a golf course. Her favorite things at Reading camp are going to the campfire and clown school. Her least favorite thing is all the noise. Kinzie has a very special talent- she does magic tricks! Kinzie lives with her parent, her brother and her sister. She does not like sad things. Her sister once painted a beautiful landscape picture of a mountain and a sunrise. Kinzie also has a puppy named Zoey and a cat named Dukie.

Josh lives in Winchester, where he attends McClure Elementary School. His favorite sport is basketball, in which he usually plays the position of guard. He used to play for a team called the Comets. When Josh gets back home from Reading Camp, he is going to go play in a basketball championship in Lexington. Josh says his favorite thing about Reading Camp is swimming but his least favorite thing is journal, time because he really does not like to have to write.

Annie lives in Morehead, Kentucky and goes to school at Tilden Hogg Elementary, where she is in the 5th grade. She lives with her mom and dad, and her three older sisters. She has a pet rabbit named Bunna-ahop and a dog named Jack. Her favorite things about Reading Camp are making new friends and reading. Her principal, Miss Howes, came and visited Reading Camp on Wednesday. When Annie gets home, she is going to go play at a pool with her cousins.

Hunter is ten years old. He lives in Rowan County, which is near Morehead. Hunter goes to Tilden Hogg, the same school Annie goes to. They were in the same class last year so they might be in the same class for the 5th grade too. . Hunter was birn on Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, which is February 12th, except that Hunter was born in 1998. Hunter likes to run. In fact, he is the 5th fastest runner in his age group in the whole state. Hunter has pet horses, dogs and cats. He lives on a farm where he also has cows, horses, chickens, ducks. He thinks there might be rats oe mice on the farm too but believes the cats ate them all. His favorite things about Reading camp were the bat cave and repelling. Hunter’s stepfather left for Afghanistan on Hunter’s birthday this past February. His step dad will be coming home either Friday or on the day Hunter gets home from Reading Camp. Hunter has missed his step dad very much.

Hailey has over 100 cousins! When Hailey leaves Reading camp, she will be going to a brand new house. Her new bedroom is either going to be purple or green. Her favorite things about Reading Camp are writing and swimming. Her least favorite meal at Reading camp was dinner. Hailey has three dogs and they are all boys. Their names are Ty, Shadow and Blue. If Hailey was in a circus, she would be an acrobat.

Aaron lives in Winchester and goes to school at Providence Elementary School. His favorite sport is football. He especially likes to be on the line. He plays for the Cowboys. He has a cat named Miko. Aaron says he loves repelling and writing. He likes acting. Aaron is going to go to college after he graduates high school. He wants to own his own restaurant, which would be called AN’s. He would be the chef. He was looking for a girlfriend, but gave up. When he gets home from camp, he is going to spend time with his family.

Allison lives in Harrodsburg and goes to school at Harrodsburg Fifth and Ninth Grade Academy. She has two dogs, two cats and two dogs. She says her family has a lot of pets. Earlier this year, Allison saved six baby birds when she found them in a nest that the mama bird had built in a practice batting cage. Her favorite things about Reading camp are the pool, old friends, making new friends. She helps with the Backyard Ministry in her community. She has a crush on the son of the man who runs the ministry because he is so kewl.

Laura lives in Lexington, where she goes to Southern Elementary. She has a dog named Jewels, who is older than Laura is people years and is 65 in dog years! Laura is 9 years old. Her favorite thing about reading camp is reppelling, writing, reading and swimming. She likes the bat cave, but it was kinda scary because she was afraid the lights were going to go out. Her favorite camp songs were the ones about the girl and the boy in the canoe and the shark song. She has no idea what she is going to do when she gets home from camp.

Taylor is a 4th grader who is 9 years old. She lives in Mt. Sterling and goes to Mt. Sterling Elementary School. She has a puppy named Mazey and other dogs named Spanky, Pepper, Joe and Lily. Her favorite thing about Reading Camp is writing. Her favorite camp song is the baby shark song. She really likes the bat cave and the bow and arrow. She liked eating popcorn and watching Stuart Little. She only has one boyfriend right now. His name is Tyler, but he is not the Tyler at camp. He is in the same school she is in but is in the 3rd grade.

Alley is in the 4th grade in Lexington, where she goes to Harrison Elementary School. Her very favorite camp song is the baby shark and mama shark song. Her favorite things at Reading camp are the dance contest, singing songs, swimming, camp store and playing word games. She has a pet cat named Eyeball and two dogs named Piper and Army. Army hates strangers and bites them! She has three brothers and two sisters. Alley is usually shy when she sings and dances, even at Reading Camp. She likes to sing and dance at camp, but she won’t dance with any of the boys here. She is a very good Hot jump ropper.
